To Twitter or Not to Twitter....That is the Question...

I've been toying with doing the Twitter thing for The Goblet for a little bit now.

I already have this blog, and a Facebook fan page (you can get there with the mini-version to the right), but wonder, is that enough?

Would love to get some feedback from those of you out there who do the Twitter thing. Has it helped? Is worth it?

I have to admit, I'm not a fan of Twitter myself. But I know that it's the next step in social networking promotions.

So c'mon--give me a shout-out! Let me know the good, the bad and the ugly of using Twitter!

Thanks in advance!!!

Until next time....

  1. I vowed NEVER to join Twitter and I did. It's great for views, but not sure if it's helped with sales though. The trick is not to spam your followers though. Be chatty too! Good luck with your Twitter decision!

  2. Thanks so much. That's exactly what I was thinking too--the views vs. sales ratio. I shall keep thinking. Thanks again! :)

  3. i agree with greenstar... it's been an ongoing experiment with me... maybe posting once a week, to posting daily. and that definitely puts off your followers! posting here and there seems to work nicely, and its pretty good for giving you "instant" views but i have the same question about the view-sales conversion. i guess you can only know by asking your customers where they found you, it'll give an idea of whether its worth it

  4. I agree with you guys. I put off joining it for a really long time, mostly because it's just one more social networking site to deal with, but it is good for instant views. So far none of those views have translated into sales though.

  5. Personally I like twitter, I was very doubtful in the beginning because I didn't understand the point. But I think that it helps with getting your name out there and people seeing your shop which I originally never had any intentions of doing I just wanted a small shop it wasn't until I was featured on a very viral blog did I see a whole ton of comments about me! People we're shocked that I was 18 and had an etsy shop because so many of them had seen me on twitter, fb and the etsy forums.
It was then that I realized twitter can really help. It also helps with people who are interested in your craft who would like to be updated on your progress I think.

  6. I like twitter, I can't say I have gotten any sales from it but it did get me in a few treasuries. I don't post items from my shop very often because it's considered spam, every now and then doesn't hurt.

I will say I have meet several people via twitter, and found many useful resources. You have to think of twitter as another opportunity to get your name out as you brand your business.

It can be worth it if you decide to participate. Follow me and I will follow you back. http://twitter.com/additionsstyle

  7. You guys have certainly given me a lot to think about. I keep going back and forth. Every time I visit Twitter, I don't know...I'm almost tempted to get one as a personal account just to vent! LOL

Thank you so much for the feedback. I really am going to consider it.

If anyone else wants to chime in, more feedback is more than welcome!
